 Hydro Jetting/Snaking

What is snaking?

Clogs happen. It might be in your tub, shower, sink or toilet. It could be a new or a reoccurring drain problem. When it happens a “snake” can be used to clear the blockage. How does it work?

The snake moves forward until it reaches the blockage in the line. When the snake encounters the obstruction, the twisting motion of the auger end attaches onto any clog so it can be pulled back out of the drain or pipe. Or it will push through the blockage, clearing a path for things to flow again.

We have top of the line snaking equipment to help clear the blockage. We also have sewer camera video equipment for inspections that can see inside the pipes. We use this equipment specifically when we encounter a clog that is reoccurring or stubborn. The video inspection will help to pinpoint what the issue is so we can efficiently solve the problem.

We can help with clogged toilets, shower drains, kitchen sinks, garbage disposal clogs, sewer main backups. We never use damaging methods or harmful chemicals. Our technicians are efficient and will not leave a mess behind.

What is hydro jetting?

Hydro jetting uses highly pressurized water (up to 4000 PSI) to break up and remove grease, sludge, and even tree roots from sewer drainage pipes. Water with this much pressure, will clear away just about all obstructions. Hydro jetting is like a super pressure washing for the inside of your pipes.

The hydro jetting system consists of a machine with a hose and nozzle connected to a mobile water tank. The machine/engine will create the water pressure which pushes the water thru the hose into the pipes to clean them. There are no chemicals that are used, just lots of water.

Before we hydro jet your sewer lines, we might run a video camera down the line to do an inspection. We want to confirm the condition of the pipes so that we can be sure the plumbing system will be able to handle the high pressure of the hydro-jetter. Water under high pressure can damage or even break frail, older pipes. We will also determine if the pipe is clogged and not collapsed. If the pipe is collapsed, the hydro-jetter will not help fix the issue. The collapsed pipe will need to be replaced instead.
We access the pipe via a “clean-out”. This is a section of pipe with a cap on it that provides easy access to your drainage system. If you do not have a clean-out, we can remove a toilet and access the pipe thru the pipe at the toilet. The nozzle and hose are inserted into the pipe via the cleanout and whenever the nozzle encounters an obstruction, the jetting system shoots pressurized water at it until it breaks up and washes away.

There are not too many obstructions that hydro jetting can’t handle. It easily pushes through and washes away the most stubborn blockages.

Hydro jetting does more than just poke holes in the sludge

There’s nothing wrong with using a plumbing snake on a clogged drain. It’s a tried-and-true method of breaking up obstructions. Sometimes a plumbing snake will only poke holes in the blockage, enough to get the wastewater flowing again. They can’t clean the inside of your pipes the way hydro jetting can. Hydro jetting removes everything. Afterward, your pipes are as clean as wastewater pipes can be.

Hydro jetting is a non-invasive procedure. No digging is required to get at the clogged pipe. Access is easily obtained via the cleanout.
No chemicals are needed or used when hydro jetting. Because it’s just pressurized water, hydro jetting is a green technology that doesn’t harm the environment.
Tree roots are one of the main causes of broken sewer pipes. They make their way inside and if they aren’t removed while they’re still small, they will continue to grow and eventually break and crack the pipe. Hydro jetting can easily break up small tree roots before they have a chance to do serious damage.
If snaking & plunging your sewer lines don’t work, then it’s time to hydro jet the piping. Hydro jetting works on stubborn blockages that don’t respond to other methods. And you might want to consider…
Many homeowners, restaurants, and commercial business’s hydro jet their sewer lines as part of a scheduled maintenance program. It’s a good way to keep the waste piping in good working order. Why would you want to hydro jet on a regular basis? It all comes down to the amount of buildup, fats, oils, grease, tree roots, cracks, etc. Kitchen lines and drains from restaurants typically need the most maintenance. Do you use a garbage disposal or rinse out a lot of very greasy pans in your sink? You might need to hydro jet your line one or more times per year.
